Maria Alejandra Garcia Castro
Lead Guide
My name is María Alejandra, and I was born and raised in Baja California Sur, Mexico, a place with an arid climate and scorching sun, yet fortunate enough to be surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of California. This environment taught me, since I was a child, just how immense and vast marine environments can be in contrast with the desert. I grew up and later worked closely with marine animals, forging a curiosity and a profound connection with nature.
Today, my life is a dream come true and a constant challenge to give my best. I left the warm climate to establish my home in a place that is completely opposite: the frigid and magical Yukon, Canada. This transition of culture, language, and landscapes has reaffirmed one virtue: my capacity for wonder remains intact. The same emotion I felt when admiring the ocean and all the interactions that comprise it, now floods me when I witness the starry nights, the Northern Lights, the wildlife, and the landscapes that Yukon offers me.
