The far north offers the best winter activities in Canada - dog sledding, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, icefishing, wildlife viewing, hot springs, flightseeing and watching the Aurora Borealis. During this fun-packed winter program you will travel like a musher, dine like a fisherman, track like a stampeder - explore like a local.
During a spectactular sightseeing flight above the surrounding area of Whitehorse you’ll have a chance to see the grand landscape of the far north. We’ll take you to explore the rich history of the Yukon during a city tour, watch local wildlife upclose at the Yukon Wildlife Preseve. Dalls sheep, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, mule deer, wapiti (elk), woodland caribou, wood bison, musk-ox, moose, arctic fox and even lynx can all be seen on this tour. Relax in the soothing hot waters of the local hot springs. Learn how to mush with your team of huskies which will wisk you away onto trails in the winter wonderland. Feel the rush of driving a snowmobile into the backcountry to magnificent view points. You’ll setout on a beautiful winter lake to discover the tranquility of ice fishing. If your are lucky and catch a nice fish your guide will fillet it and cook it on the fire. Set your tracks during a snowshoeing tour among some of the most impressive landscapes. On three evenings of your choice, you’ll travel just outside the city centre, but far enough from the city lights to an idyllic Northern Lights viewing location, the AuroraCentre. The evenings will feature relaxing Northern Lights viewing beside a cozy wood stove or roaring campfire. A winter vacation is truly complete with the chance to view the aurora borealis cascading across the night sky.
