This 2-days canoe trip on the Yukon River from Whitehorse to Lake Laberge is specially tailored for visitors who like to travel away from tourist routes, following the trail of the old history, in a moderate time frame.
The tour starts in Whitehorse on the Yukon River with the compass needle set north, and we pass many relicts of the historic gold rush of 1898. The Yukon, meaning “Big River” in Athabaskan, ties as the 2nd longest river in North America (3,185 km) behind the Mississippi and Missouri River. This mighty river starts in the Yukon and empties into Alaska’s Bering Sea. Paddlewheel riverboats continued to travel the river until the 1950s when the Klondike Highway was completed. Today we enjoy the beautiful scenery while paddling down this historic waterway.

Yukon River

Pickup in the morning in Whitehorse and transfer to the legendary Yukon River. After safety instructions and preparation of our gear we’ll depart on the Yukon River. The river’s name means “great river” and thus it is very well named. This tour provides great opportunities to watch and photograph wildlife, such as bald eagles. During the next two wonderful days, we’ll paddle appr. 50km on this great river to roam the Yukon wilderness. Overnight camping at Yukon River.

Yukon River - Lake Laberge

A great day for beginner paddlers and a perfect way to enjoy this classic northern river. Our second day of paddling brings us to Lake Laberge, which allows for some relaxed shoreline paddling. From here we’ll return back Whitehorse in the afternoon. End of program.
